Stated Purpose: The AIDS Services Center Coalition, Inc. is the legal entity that produces the Louisville AIDS Walk. In addition to producing the Louisville AIDS Walk, the mission of the organization is to --provide a forum and formal structure by which it may initiate and collaborate and support ongoing and future HIV/AIDS programs and services --prevent duplication of efforts and gaps in HIV/AIDS programs and services --develop, implement, and monitor the progress of a unified, strategic plan for HIV/AIDS programs and services for the local community The Louisville AIDS Walk was founded in 1993. According to the agency's website, the event is Kentucky's largest one-day fund raiser for HIV/AIDS. The proceeds for each year's Walk are allocated to a diverse group of organizations based on their requests for vital, direct, hands on services including food, emergency financial assistance, housing, counseling, legal assistance, and transportation.

Programs

              

In addition to producing the Louisville AIDS Walk and funding direct services, other programs provided by the AIDS Services Center Coalition include the operation of AIDS Education and Treatment Resource Center, coordination of local World AIDS Day activities, and the facilitation of regular meetings of HIV/AIDS services organizations to share information, coordinate efforts, and improve services. The Louisville AIDS Walk is organized and supported by organizations that have included the AIDS Interfaith Ministries of Kentuckiana, Inc., AIDS Services Center Coalition, Inc, Family and Children First, Friend to Friend Internet Project, House of Ruth, Louisville Metro Health Department, Louisville Metro Housing and Community Development, The HIV/AIDS Legal Project of The Legal Aid Society, Tri-County Health Coalition of Southern Indiana, University of Louisville School of Dentistry, University of Louisville WINGS Program, Volunteers of America of Kentucky, Inc. Some of the Walk's past recipient organizations have included: AIDS Service Center, AIDS Interfaith Ministries of Kentuckiana, Inc., Family and Children First, HIV/AIDS Legal Project of the Legal Aid Society, Hoosier Hills AIDS Coalition, House of Ruth, Saint William's Center, Louisville/Jefferson County Minority AIDS Program, Tri-County Health Coalition of Southern Indiana, University of Louisville WINGS Clinic.
