Programs

Teaching the Importance of Personal Safety (TIPS) is administered in the public and private schools of ECHO’s service area for all grade levels K-12. Since August 2013, ECHO has educated 3991 children throughout our community. Teens Keeping Kids Safe (TKKS) is a service learning opportunity allowing high school students to deliver the TIPS curriculum to elementary school students. This mentoring based relationship allows kindergarten through fifth graders to hear the important message of body safety from the people that they look up to most—teenagers. ECHO’s Family Court Playroom is located in the Family Court division of the Justice Building. Volunteers provide nurturing attention and timely distractions for children visiting the playroom while their parents are in Family Court. Currently the playroom is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays 9 am-12 pm. Kids in Court was developed in partnership with the Commonwealth Attorney’s office as a way for children to participate in a court room walk through and mock trial in preparation for testifying. Parents are given support and advice on important information about participating in a trial. Law Enforcement Support is provided by ECHO staff and volunteers to the Missing Persons Unit of the Homicide Department of the Louisville Metro Police. Follow-up phone calls are made to families and loved ones of missing children in an effort to assist detectives in a successful recovery of the child.

For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2013, ECHO's program expenses were:

Program services 185,514
