Programs

              

Founded in 1907, Neighborhood Centers Inc. provides resources to more than 250,000 clients annually throughout a 67-county region in central and southeast Texas. They build communities with center-based programming to improve education, health, housing, economic opportunity, infrastructure, and connection – the six components of healthy, vibrant neighborhoods. Their work can be seen in six community centers, 22 senior centers, and numerous Neighborhood Tax Centers; at citizenship forums, health fairs, and education rallies; and in a range of programming that includes financial management classes, child development initiatives, and leadership training. They provide a range of comprehensive, community-based programs and services for young people, families, and seniors.

Business Combination with Sheltering Arms Senior Services

              

"In July 2011, Neighborhood Centers Inc and Sheltering Arms Senior Services announced a business combination to enhance the continuum of services provided to seniors in the greater Houston area.  The programs offered by Sheltering Arms remain the same, and include case management, caregiver support services, subsidized home care, weatherization and utility assistance, and the City's first Alzheimer's adult day center.  Combining these services with Neighborhood Centers' health promotion and prevention programs ensures Houston seniors will have access to a full range of services with the quality services they need in the most cost-efficient manner possible."
