Programs

              

Montgomery County Youth Services, Inc. (MYCS) provides crisis intervention for youth and families in Montgomery County and Walker County. MYCS implements this objective by providing individual and family counseling, emergency shelter for runaways, residential care for homeless youths, and "Independent Living" program for older teens and an alcohol and other drug prevention/intervention services for high risk youths. In 2009, MCYS provided counseling services to 6,182; and prevention services reached over 12,200 youth and adults. Shelter services are available for youth in crisis because of abuse, neglect, homelessness or risk of homelessness or severe family discord. Street outreach services provide critical needs such as food, clothing and access to services and served 200 youth. Bridgeway Youth Shelter provides short-term (90-day stay) emergency shelter to youth ages 10-17 and served 87 residents in 2009. Fairway Home is a transitional living program providing long-term (up to 18 months) shelter for youth ages 16-19 and served 23 residents in 2009.
