The Lupus Foundation of America, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter supports the following activities: Patient Education and Support: The organization responded to inquiries about lupus, conducted individual needs assessments, distributed lupus literature, provided a physician referral list, managed support groups, published newsletter, presented lupus seminars and workshops, and provided a PAP. Public Awareness: The Lupus Foundation of America, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter attended and distributed lupus education materials at health fairs and events, presented lupus information at meetings and speaking opportunities, and provided Public Service Announcements and press releases to the media. Research: The organization also provided funding to the Lupus Foundation of America to support their five-year research initiative. The organization serves 600-plus chapter members and attends approximately 70 health fairs, where they reach an estimated 20,000 people annually.
