BBP's 20-year visionary Buffalo Bayou and Beyond Master Plan, calls for Buffalo Bayou to be a central, regional amenity that serves multiple purposes: recreation, flood management and ecosystem restoration. The organization seeks to create an active and vibrant waterway that enriches the lives of residents and attracts visitors from throughout the region and beyond. Specific elements of the long-range plan include: a 20-mile hike and bike trail system from Shepherd Drive to the Port of Houston Turning Basin, parks and open space destinations, and high quality development adjacent to the bayou corridor.
