Making the community weatherwise is the vision of Weather Research Center. They do this through their educational programs which include training recent college graduates in tropical and marine weather forecasting, educating the community through the nation's first and only weather museum. However, the main goal of the Center is to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. This is done through Weather Camp, Weather Labs and Teacher Workshops. The John C. Freeman Weather Museum had over 1,971 visitors in 2009. Weather Research Center meteorologists served over 10,150 people in the community in 2009 through its outreach programs such as Weather Labs, Weather Camp, Teacher Workshops, and community talks.
