Programs

              

Information and Referral is the most basic service that provides information. By helping women navigate the networks of services available to them. The charity's social worker is available daily to assess needs and to assist community residents in accessing services. Participants are free to use the Center’s computers, fax machine, and telephones to keep communication flowing. Job Search Support program where the aim of this program is to “Make Changes. Take Charge”, is personal development and employment assistance to break the cycles of poverty, and dependency. Possible stages include: Self-Serve Employment Search Supported Barrier Mitigation Focus – help in removing or mitigating the barriers to getting and keeping a job. One-on-One Intensive Job Search Support Workshops - On employment-related skills and personal development Three unique programs (Girls Club, Girls Life and Girls Night In) provide opportunities for girls, ages 8-17 to learn, share, and grow stronger in their own self-esteem. These programs provide structured educational activities on age-appropriate topics, encourage opportunities to learn through shared experiences, improve social skills, and encourage making new friends. All is accomplished in a safe, positive place. Ultimately each program is designed to help girls make healthy life choices and become leaders in their community. Support Groups offer weekly addiction recovery, and domestic violence support groups are offered for women struggling with addictions, emotional/personal problems, or abusive relationships. Women's Enrichment programs encourage women to learn, grow, and be a supportive person to another woman. The Las Hispanas group is a bi-monthly educational and social gathering for Hispanic women and their families. The Piecemakers is a weekly gathering for women of all ages who desire to learn to quilt, knit or crochet. They work on projects that benefit TWC and others in the community. The Basic Machine Sewing group is a continuous six week class one day a week that introduces hand sewing, basic machine sewing, and fabric to women. An Intermediate class follows weekly. Scrapbooking is a weekly group to assist women in developing self-awareness and living out of a positive self-image through creating scrapbook pages of memories.
