Programs

Our Daily Bread Center serves the residents of Over-the-Rhine and the West End and many of the individuals are unemployed or unemployable. The charity has developed specific programs and services for children, the elderly, and those with other needs. Our Daily Bread opens its doors at 8:30 a.m. and start serving coffee at 9:30 a.m. and stay open until 2:30 p.m. and the charity may stay open longer if the weather forecast predicts severe weather. In addition, a hot, well balanced meal is served Monday through Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. No identification of qualifying information is required to receive the meal.

The goal of the charity is to have all guests treated with dignity and respect. A phone and restrooms are available for guests use. The charity has weekly afternoon activities and serves coffee and snacks. On Tuesday, there is bingo game where guests can win small prizes, which may include hygiene, cleaning, and food products as well as trinkets and on Thursday, the charity shows a recently released movie.

The Kids Café is a program run in conjunction with FreestoreFoodbank and provides children (ages 5-13) with a place to gather and have something to eat after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Each day an activity is planned, whether it is a story hour, a craft, or learning sign language. There is also homework help available for the children, if needed.

Lunch on Legs was the initial outreach program of the charity. Volunteers deliver means to senior citizens in Parkway Towers. The volunteers also will check on the wellness of each individual and the volunteer will let the organization know if the senior citizen had any new particular need, such as a blanket or socks.

The charity also provides a social worker to work with the individuals and other agencies to provide each guest with specific services. Guests can make an appointment to meet with the social worker to discuss their needs, which may include receiving help with rent or utilities, transportation assistance, assistance with obtaining state identification and birth certificates, and assistance with applying for benefit applications.
