Programs

              

According to the organization, in 2006, the Kidney Foundation provided 565 clients with patient services. The Medication Aid/Emergency Assistance Program provides financial support to patients for life-saving medications. Additionally, the program provides grants for emergency needs such as rent, food, and utilities for kidney patients in need. The Nutritional Supplement Program provides nutritional supplements kidney patients need while undergoing treatment to help better manage health and improve quality of life. According to the organization, the Kidney Foundation has educated 23,781 children and adults about kidney disease in 2006. The Youth Health Education Program provides children (grades kindergarten through twelfth) with health information related to kidney function, signs, symptoms, and prevention of kidney disease, and health lifestyle choices for children. The Public Education program provides the community with life-saving health information on prevention and early intervention of kidney disease, signs and symptoms of kidney disease, cause and treatment and management of kidney disease, healthy lifestyle choices, and the relationship kidneys have with the total health of an individual. The organization presents this educational material via presentations, health fairs, and screenings. The organization provides educational programs for the medical community, who care for kidney patients to include best practices and advancements in the treatment and management of kidney disease. According to the organization, in 2006, the foundation awarded $30,000 for research that is used as seed money to support continue advancements in the cause, treatment, prevention, and cure of kidney disease to local researchers.
