Programs

              

Great Miami Valley YMCA is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The charity is made up of people of all ages, faiths, and abilities, working together to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live life to the fullest. The charity serves more than 35,600 members through their programs, and services that nurture life lessons for children while simultaneously fostering health, and well-being that brings people together to provide mutual support for everyone in the community. Health Enhancement Programs emphasize proper exercise, nutrition, stress management, avoidance of drug and alcohol abuse, and health education. Some of the programs offered include parent/child preschool movement, aerobics, pilates, yoga, strength training, and water exercises. Each program serves all abilities and ages. According to the charity, in 2007, there were 135,587 individuals who participated in 81 different Health Enhancement Programs. The Aquatics Program provides swimming and water safety skills for both children and adults. For the adults, some of the programs offered include arthritis program, swim clubs, and life guard training. For children and teens, the YMCA offers various levels of swimming lessons, swim teams, and life guard training. According to the charity, in 2007, 5,901 children learned pool safety through swim lessons. Residential and Day Camp Programs are designed to help develop confidence and self-respect as the youth overcome challenges and learn cooperation through a variety of activities. Some of camps provided include sports camps, specialty camps, and special needs camps. In 2007, according to the charity, the YMCA served 21,490 children in the day and overnight camping programs at five different locations throughout Butler County. Children Care Programs helps children develop moral and ethical behavior, self-esteem, and leadership. The program serves children six weeks old to 12 years old through full day care, preschool and before and after school programs.
