The Freestore Foodbank is an emergency food and services provider. The Freestore Foodbank operates two divisions: Foodbank and Client Services. The Foodbank Division serves 161,000 individuals annually through 400 nonprofit member agencies who operate food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, childcare/eldercare centers, community centers, and residential programs in 20 counties in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. The Foodbank solicits, warehouses, and distributes 10 million pounds of donated food and groceries annually. Programs of the Foodbank Division include Kids Café, which serves 80,000 meals annually to children in need, Cincinnati COOKS!, which trains underemployed adults for jobs in the Food Service industry and cooks meals for Kids Cafes, and the Health & Hygiene Program, which distributes essential medicines and health care items to needy persons who cannot afford them. The Client Services Division, located in downtown Cincinnati, provides emergency food, housing, and housing support to the poorest residents of Cincinnati in a holistic care environment. Each year, the Freestore Foodbank serves 40,000 (unduplicated) clients through the following programs: Food Pantry, Food Stamp Outreach Program, Emergency Rent Assistance, Direct Rent/Utilities Program, Protective Payee Program, Transportation Assistance, Holiday Food Basket Distribution, and Homeless Outreach Program.
