Programs

              

The Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency (CAA) serves as a lifeline for low-income children and adults throughout Hamilton County. The Head Start Program is an early childhood education experience that prepares 3 and 4 year olds for entering grade school. The Early Head Start Program provides pregnant women, infants, and toddlers with education and assistance. The Supportive Services Program assists in emergency situations by providing rental and mortgage assistance, food vouchers, bus tokens, utility assistance, medical prescriptions for the elderly and physically disabled, transitional housing for qualified families, and coordination with other CAA programs to ensure that clients have access to all services needed. Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) assists individuals and families threatened with disconnection of their heating source. Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) helps homeowners and renters reduce their gas and electric bills by making homes more energy efficient. Workforce Development Programs provide job-readiness training and job placement to individuals facing barriers to gainful employment. The program offers Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE), GED preparation, and computer training classes. The Fresh Start Program further assist individuals who are facing the unique barriers ex-offenders encounter upon re-entering the workforce. The Directions for Dads Program strengthens families by providing training and support to help fathers remain an integral part of their children’s lives. Youth Services Programs offer a variety of opportunities for young at-risk men and women to complete a high school diploma while receiving construction skills and other vocational skills training.
