Programs

              

Center for Respite Care provides medical recovery care to sick and injured homeless adults and have nowhere else to turn. Individuals that are requiring medical recovery are referred to the charity from area hospitals, health clinics, or homeless shelters. In its 14-bed, 24-hour facility, the charity tries to meet the basic, immediate needs of individuals by providing a bed, three healthy meals per day, showers, laundry facilities, clothing, and transportation. The Center for Respite Care addresses the medical needs of homeless men and women by providing medical evaluations, lab tests, medications, nursing care, health education, and coordination of medical and mental health services. The charity also provides extended care to homeless individuals following surgeries and other major medical procedures. The Center for Respite Care assists each client in the transition to self-sufficiency by working with a social worker to develop and implement a personalized care plan, which includes referrals to housing programs, substance abuse programs, and mental health services as well as additional services available throughout the community. According to the charity, over 70% of the clients complete the program and move into permanent or transitional housing. The average length of stay for an individual is 30 days and social service plans are created for all patients who stay is for more than three days.
