Programs

              

The Center for Independent Living Options (“CILO”) provides information, resources, and services to, for, and by people with disabilities. CILO delivers comprehensive, cross-disability based independent living services to adults and children who have physical, cognitive, sensory, and / or psychological disabilities. According to the charity, CILO serves nearly 1,800 individuals through its programs and services each year. The primary objective of the charity is to increase accessibility, inclusion, and opportunities for people with disabilities to lead productive lives and become contributing members of the community. The Advocacy Program works to generate awareness, engage in positive action, and create needed change in laws and programs that affect people with disabilities. The program activities include public framing and development of broad-based disability issues and the creation of grassroots advocacy at the federal, state, and local levels of government. The Life Skills Training Program is designed to empower individuals with disabilities to make and act upon their decisions. Individualized training and group workshops provide the information, resources, and skills necessary to create and / or maintain independent lifestyles. Additional programs of CILO include information and referral services, peer counseling, personal care assistance, homeless disability services, homeless housing assistance and nursing home transition. The Art Beyond Boundaries program works to include and promote participation of people with disabilities in the arts.
