Programs

              

The Alzheimer's Association Greater Cincinnati Chapter is committed to support, education, research, and advocacy on behalf of those affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The Chapter serves 27 counties in Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana. The Alzheimer's Association Greater Cincinnati Chapter provides a comprehensive array of services for affected individuals, families, caregivers, heath care professionals, and the general public. All Chapter services are offered free of charge to persons with dementia and their families. Services include a 24-hour telephone assistance service providing information, support, and referrals; individualized education and care planning for caregivers of affected individuals; peer support groups for family caregivers and friends that meet regularly in community settings; a variety of education programs for family caregivers, professional care providers, and the general public; and special programs that provide education, support, and meaningful activities to individuals in the early to middle stages of Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia. According to the charity, in fiscal year 2011 the Chapter received over 3,600 calls to the Helpline information, referral, and support service. The Chapter presented over 200 education programs to more than 4,100 family caregivers, individuals with dementia, professional care providers, and lay community members in the 27 county service area. Finally, the Chapter's clinical staff conducted over 430 family care consultation meetings that included over 850 individuals and the Chapter also hosted 22 family support groups that met monthly in various communities and served more than 300 individuals.
