Programs

              

Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, Inc. (KCB) is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and was incorporated in June 1978 as a 501(c)(3) organization by the City of Cincinnati. Keep Cincinnati Beautiful focuses on education and public awareness. The charity works on a grassroots level to educate residents and students in an effort to change behaviors and attitudes regarding the need to be a good steward toward the environment. KCB offers many programs to meet the principles of Keep America Beautiful. The following is a description of each program: Littering is Wrong Too - This program is a multi-media litter prevention advertising campaign created to instill a sense of community pride and to convice people not to litter. Neighborhood Cleanups - This program provides the community an opportunity to work together through cleanup programs such as the Great American Cleanup, SuperCan (dumpsters for outdoor cleanups), Adopt-A-Spot, litter-free events, Project 180 and graffiti prevention and abatement. Daffodils & Daylillies - This program brings flowers to Cincinnati highways. This beautification program reduces litter along exit and entrance ramps and in median strips throughout the city. Future Blooms - This program takes abandoned buildings and enhances their appearance by painting on the boarded up doors and windows in an effort to reduce blight and crime and bring a sense of hope to those living and working in the community. Neighborhood Enhancement Program - KCB joins forces with City agencies to address areas with extreme blight and crime issues. Working in defined focused areas on code enforcement, crime prevention and enforcement, cleanup, beautification, amd community greening. Sheriff's Inmate Work Detail - This program uses inmates to clean and mow lots in Over the Rhine, Downtown Cincinnati, and eight major corridors throughout the city and eight areas outside the city limits. KCB monitors the program, collates reports, and specify sitations to be addressed in the detail. Outreach Programs - These programs center on litter prevention, recycling, composting, and proper solid waste management and are available to schools and adult groups throughout the year. Environment Curriculum - Guides are available for kindergarten through the twelfth grade. Environmental Field Trips - These are offered to school groups for a hands-on experience. Mini Grants - These are awarded to Cincinnati schools and community groups to fund environmental projects.
