Programs

The Health and Nutrition Program provides health and wellness programs for older adults throughout an eight-county region.  The program provides Meals on Wheels (hot, home-delivered meals) for seniors.  In addition, the Health and Nutrition Program provides a noontime meal to older adults.  Each meal provides a third of the daily nutritional requirements.  According to the charity, its typical client is a woman is her early 80s and who is low-income, lives alone, and suffers from two or more chronic health problems.  The charity also provides emergency meals for those that need short-term intervention.  These clients could be recovering from a broken hip or are going through chemo-therapy and do not have the strength to cook or shop for themselves.  The charity also provides a congregate meal service at senior centers throughout the region.  The congregate meal not only provides seniors a meal, but an opportunity for socialization.  The charity also offers a food pantry at the charity's headquarters location in Covington, where it provides shelf-stable food to older adults that are suffering from food insecurity.

The Transportation to Wellness Program provides transportation for medical appointments, trips to the pharmacy, and limited trips to the grocery store.  The charity’s transportation service is tailored to an individual’s needs.  Trained and professional drivers assist clients with oxygen tanks and other medical equipment from the client’s home to the vehicle and to the scheduled appointment.

Safeguarding our Seniors Program provides protection against elder abuse, provides Ombudsman services where the charity advocates for the rights of individuals residing in long-term care.  The charity also provides social service staff to help older adults find services and programs for their needs.
