The Residential Treatment Program is a treatment facility for abused and neglected boys between the ages of 7 and 17, with severe emotional, behavioral, and social issues. The program provides treatment including individual, group, recreational, and family therapy when appropriate. The boys receive 24 hour care at both the Covington Campus located in Devou Park and Maplewood Campus located in Burlington. According to the charity, in 2009, 73% of those residents completing 8 ½ months (average stay) or more of treatment, returned home to a parent, relative, foster home, or to another less restrictive setting.
Family Preservation and Family Reunification Program is designed to provide therapeutic interventions and case management services to families with children who are at imminent risk for out-of-home placement. The charity offers a variety of services depending on the family’s needs. Issues of concern may include behavior problems, environmental neglect, mental health issues, and physical abuse. The program services families with children from birth to 17 years of age and it is aimed at defusing an immediate crisis and teaching problem solving skills to prevent recurrence. According to the charity, in 2009, 146 children were at risk of removal with 99% remaining in the home at the close of services.
The Out-of-Home Care Diversion Project is a four month home-based program for families in which one or more of the children are at imminent risk for out-of-home placement. Issues of concerns include truancy, behavior problems, school performance problems, and failure to follow home rules. The program works with boys and girls ages 10 to 17. According to the charity, in 2009, 210 children were at risk of removal with 87% remaining in the home at the close of services. In addition, 90% of clients surveyed reported improved behavioral at home and school.
