Evaluation Conclusions

              

Inner City Impact does not meet the following 3 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Standard 8: Program Service Expense Ratio - Spend at least 65% of its total expenses on program activities.

Inner City Impact does not meet this Standard because:

  • According to the its audited financial statements for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011, the organization spent $875,800 or 59% of its total expenses ($1,476,960) on program service activities.

Standard 16: Annual Report - Have an annual report available to all, on request, that includes: (a) the organization's mission statement, (b) a summary of the past year's program service accomplishments, (c) a roster of the officers and members of the board of directors, (d) financial information that includes (i) total income in the past fiscal year, (ii) expenses in the same program, fund raising and administrative categories as in the financial statements, and (iii) ending net assets.

Inner City Impact does not meet this standard because:

  • The organization states it does not have an annual report covering activities conducted in the past year.

Standard 17: Web Site Disclosures - Include on any charity websites that solicit contributions, the same information that is recommended for annual reports, as well as the mailing address of the charity and electronic access to its most recent IRS Form 990.

Inner City Impact does not meet this Standard because the organization's website, www.Innercityimpact.org, does not include all of the recommended information for those charity websites that solicit for donations. Specifically, it does not include:

  • Total income.
  • Total program expenses.
  • Total fund raising expenses.
  • Total administrative expenses.
  • End of year net assets.
  • The organization’s mailing address.
  • Electronic access to the organization’s most recent IRS Form 990.
In addition, the BBB of Chicago & Northern Illinois requested but did not receive complete information on the organization’s governance and oversight, effectiveness measures, finances, solicitation materials, donor privacy, and fundraising disclosures and is unable to verify the organization's compliance with the following 10Standards for Charity Accountability: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 14, 15, 18, and 19.
Inner City Impact meets the remaining 6 Standards for Charity Accountability. Please note that as of the date of this report 1 out of the 20Standards for Charity Accountability are not currently effective. As a result, this standard has not been applied to this evaluation.

Programs

              

Since 1972 Inner City Impact has served students in Chicago’s urban community. Their mission is to share the Gospel with students kindergarten through high school, disciple them, and see them integrated into their local church. After school programs include sports leagues, year round camping, and leadership development. These are 4 of their major programs reaching hundreds of inner city students k-12th grade each week.
