United Way of Rock River Valley does not meet the following 2 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Standard 17: Web Site Disclosures - Include on any charity websites that solicit contributions, the same information that is recommended for annual reports, as well as the mailing address of the charity and electronic access to its most recent IRS Form 990.

United Way of Rock River Valley does not meet this Standard because the organization's website, www.unitedwayrrv.org, does not include all of the recommended information for those charity websites that solicit for donations. Specifically, it does not include:

  • A summary of program service accomplishments.
  • Total income.
  • Total program expenses.
  • Total fund raising expenses.
  • Total administrative expenses.
  • End of year net assets.
  • Electronic access to the organization’s most recent IRS Form 990.

Programs

              

The United Way of Rock River Valley is committed to mobilizing the caring power of the community in order to improve lives. The United Way conducts an annual campaign that raises funds for Human and Social Service Agencies that provide programs that are focused on improving the Education, Income and Health of the citizens in the Rock River Valley Community. The annual campaign funds 84 programs at 48 local not for profits. Education Initiatives include: United Way Day of Action- 200 volunteers singed up to be reading mentors for the "I Read Program". The volunteers will provide reading tutoring to Kindergarten children. Success By 6 - Success by 6 is a United Way early childhood education initiative that works to ensure that all children from birth to age 6 have the educational, social-emotional and positive experiences necessary to begin school prepared. Within the Success by 6, the United Way is participating in Kreative K, a program that focuses on kindergarten readiness and parent invovlement. The United Way has also orchestated a book distribution program that resulted in over 4,000 books for children in early childhood programs in the Rockford and Harlem Public School Districts. Income Iniatives include: Tax Outreach and Financial Literacy - This is coolaboration with agency partners to help low to middle income individuals and families understand tax credits and benefits available to them and enable them to receive tax preparation services free of charge by IRS certified volunteers. Bank on Rockford - Designed to assist unbanked families and individuals to open checking and savings accounts at local banks. Health Iniatives: 211 Illinois - United Way of Rock River Valley is actively working to bring 211 to the Rock River Valley. 211, a three digit phone number will provide free, confidential access to information about the full range of community, social, and health services in the Rock River Valley. FamilyWize Prescription Cards - These discount presription cards are made available through a collaboration with participating pharmacies. Last year, participating families in the Rock River Valley saved $612,454 through this program. Additionally, the United Way in collaboration with Rockford College operates a community wide volunteer center. This center connects individuals and families to volunteer opportunities locally.
