Programs

              

Established in 1923, The Cradle provides professional counseling, education and support to women and men facing unplanned pregnancies; to prospective parents seeking to form or expand their families through adoption; to former wards of the State of Illinois who are orphaned due to the death or incapacitation of their adoptive parents; and to all members of the adoption triad on a post-adoption basis. Traditionally, the Foundation's core services have been delivered through one-on-one counseling with its clients, but increasingly, The Cradle is taking advantage of various technologies to provide information, support and education to people who are touched by adoption in every corner of the United States. The Cradle operates Adoption Learning Partners, an online adoption education site that offers a variety of courses for pre- and post-adoptive parents. The Cradle operates an onsite, 24-hour nursery for nurturing care to infants under the age of one year whose birthparents are considering adoption. The Nursery is an important safe-haven for babies born with special medical needs.
