They seek to: Provide emergency shelter, food, clothing and referrals for additional assistance to persons who are homeless. Prevent homelessness in our community by providing immediate assistance and referrals to those facing a housing crisis. Educate the wider community about the plight of people who are homeless.

Southwest Chicago PADS does not meet the following 2 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Standard 14: Budget - Have a board-approved annual budget for its current fiscal year, outlining projected expenses for major program activities, fund raising, and administration.

Southwest Chicago PADS does not meet this Standard because, when the organization provided budget information, it indicated that the budget:

  • Did not identify total projected program service expenses.
  • Did not identify total projected fund raising expenses.
  • Did not identify total projected administrative expenses.

Standard 17: Web Site Disclosures - Include on any charity websites that solicit contributions, the same information that is recommended for annual reports, as well as the mailing address of the charity and electronic access to its most recent IRS Form 990.

Southwest Chicago PADS does not meet this Standard because the organization's website, swchicagopads.org, does not include all of the recommended information for those charity websites that solicit for donations. Specifically, it does not include:

Southwest Chicago PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) is a 501 (c ) 3 charitable organization located on Chicago’s southwest side, across the street from Marquette Park. Yearly, they serve over 2100 men, women and children who are homeless or face the imminent possibility of becoming homeless. They provide basic services and case management to help break the bonds of homelessness.
