Programs

Christopher House’s program model focuses on helping low-income children, youth and their families. Our approach is two-fold: while we serve their needs directly through high-quality full-day and afterschool educational programs, we also know that to truly maximize the impact of our services and create sustainable change, we must engage the entire family by supporting parents. This innovative, family-centered approach expands opportunities and raises expectations for both parents and children. Our programs for children and families include: - Accredited, full-day Early Childhood Education for children ages six weeks to five years that promotes early learning and healthy parent/child relationships while preparing children for school; - School Age and Youth Leadership Services to help youth develop into successful, confident and self-sufficient adults; - Parent and Prenatal Education to prepare teen and adult parents to respond to the needs of their children; - Adult Education, including ESL courses, to increase literacy levels, life and communication skills and computer competency so that families can fully engage in civic and community life; - Counseling and Parent Education provided by licensed clinical social workers to create healthy family relationships that foster children’s development; - Family Support Services, including food pantry and emergency financial assistance, to help maintain stable and healthy home environments.
