Programs

CASA Kane County was established in 1988 by concerned citizens, child welfare professionals, and court personnel in response to concerns that the rights and needs of abused and neglected children were not being adequately addressed in court. The purpose of CASA Kane County is to recruit, train, and supervise Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers who serve as the Guardian ad Litem for abused and neglected children in the Kane County Juvenile Court system. It is the only program of its kind in Kane County. CASA/GAL volunteers are appointed to each case by the presiding judge and remain on the case until it is closed. CASA/GAL volunteers provide reports to the judge prior to all court hearings and serve as a consistent adult in the child’s life throughout the duration of the case. A CASA/GAL volunteer is appointed to every child abuse and neglect case in Kane County as well as all private guardianship cases involving minors. Last year, 213 CASA volunteers served 500 children throughout Kane County.

For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2010, CASA Kane County's program expenses were:

CASA Volunteer Recruitment, Training and Supervision 1,060,274
Total Program Expenses: $1,060,274
