Gilda's Club Chicago does not meet the following Standard for Charity Accountability.

Standard 3: Frequency and Attendance of Board Meetings - An organization shall have a minimum of three evenly spaced meetings per year of the full governing body with a majority in attendance, with face-to-face participation. A conference call of the full board can substitute for one of the three meetings of the governing body. For all meetings, alternative modes of participation are acceptable for those with physical disabilities.

Gilda's Club Chicago does not meet this Standard because:

  • Average attendance at its board meetings in the past fiscal year was less than 50%.

Support Services (group support for those diagnosed and caregivers); Education (lectures, workshops, skill development, workplace, school and faith-based community education); Healthy Lifestyles (mind-body, stress reduction, nutrition, expressive arts, health maintenance); Social Connections (to reduce isolation); and Resources and Referrals (personalized assistance to resources within the Cancer Support Community and the broader community). The Cancer Support Community program model followed by Gilda’s Club Chicago utilizes these five core program components to empower members to develop greater social connections, an increased sense of control, greater hope and meaning and improved communication with their healthcare team.
