Programs

              

United Way of the Greater Capital Region funds a network of vital human services programs and organizations that depend on the community's generosity to help those who need it most. This year, United Way will invest in 108 programs and initiatives representing 60 local agencies. It invests to improve Education, Income, Health, and people's ability to meet their Basic Needs for food, shelter, safety, dignity and independence. It helps children get a strong start in school and in life through its Bright Starts initiative. It also supports Basic Needs and Hunger Alleviation as it works to ensure everyone has access to affordable and nutritious food with its United Against Hunger program. It helps the poor and working poor achieve financial stability through the CA$H Coalition and provides tools to help people build long term savings and assets. United Way of the GCR supports the United Way 2-1-1 Northeast Region a free telephone information and referral service connecting people in need with local health and human services.
