BBB enters into partnership with Huntington Insurance

Columbus, OH - June 1, 2009 - Better Business Bureau of Central Ohio, has entered into a partnership with Huntington Insurance, Inc., to offer combined healthcare resources and benefits for member businesses and their employees. For the last couple of years the Better Business Bureau of Central Ohio has provided members group health options through Huntington Insurance, Inc. This new program offers better pricing, pooling and choices for our members to better manage healthcare expenses.

The Ohio Business Healthcare Alliance ( OBHA) is sponsored by Better Business Bureau and the Building Industry of Central Ohio. Additionally, the Home Builders Association of Cincinnati, PolymerOhio and the Ohio AgriBusiness Association have agreed to participate in the program for the benefits of better economies of scale and collective pooling.

Plan options include:

  • Defined Employer Contribution so employers can fix their benefit costs
  • Consumer Choice – employees can select the plan they want based on their specific needs from a menu of 15 different options with deductibles ranging from $0 to $5,800
  • Integrated wellness benefits to assist employees with managing health issues
  • Common renewal date for the collective pool
  • Eligibility to groups with 2 to 500 employees, plus upon Department of Insurance approval coverage will be made available to single, sole-proprietors

The OBHA has been filed to be an approved Alliance with the Department of Insurance and is insured through The Physicians Assurance Corporation, a Columbus based Insurance company. The program was designed and is administered by Huntington Insurance and will be made available through local brokers upon formal state approval.
