Additional Notes

Complaint: The consumer contacted a store after seeing a product in a catalog. The product offered was a saw and it was advertised with a limited quantity. The consumer contacted the store and was told that they did not have the saw. The consumer then contacted the corporate offices and was advised that each store is separately owned and this particular store never ordered the saw advertised. The consumer asked the store to make a substitution and was advised they had no product to offer for substitution. The local store refers him to the corporate office, the corporate office refers him to the local store.

Desired Settlement: Satisfactory Solution: The consumer would like the store to subsitute another saw for the same price.

Business Response: The information given does not adequately identify the product. We have many different saws in our store. We need more specific information as to the type and model of saw to be able to specifically address the situation. Also, Woodcraft stores are franchises and therefore every store may noy carry every product which is listed in national ads and catalogs distributed by the parent Woodcraft company. There are disclaimers on almost every ad indicting that some products may not be available in every store. The Columbus store does try to carry almost all the products advertised. If this saw was advertised as "limited quantities", that indicates that the manufacturer did not have enough units available to meet expected demand. Usually this is the result of a closeout or discontinued model. In these cases we sell what we have and there are normally no substitutions available. We will be glad to look into this matter further if specific information about the type and model of saw is provided.

BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
