Complaint: Dinner for 8 - reservations made ahead of time - the following happened:1) Same day of dinner - a call was made to my daughter to change the location of our table (a separate room was requested) - the area given was the wine cellar (in the basement ... it was hot (my husband had surgery the day before - and he was sweating on his stitches because of the room temp.2) Table not set - we had to go to the server area to get our own salt/pepper as well as silverware for the desserts.3) Ice tea - was bad - when my daughter relayed to waitress - she said "let me pour some more from the pitcher in your glass - it might help." .... ?? same tea ?4) While pouring our water glasses spilled ice on the floor at our feet (at the head of the table).5) Waitress did not give good service - she was not around often (and when asked mulitple times to get something she forgot the last time - she explained it was not her fault - the restaurant planned poorly and had her at different ends of the restaraunt.6) While taking a bite from the berry pie - my daughter bit into a thorn ... when mentioned to the waitress - she said that will happen with berry pie? !! ?? We have never experienced that at any restaurant.7) My two daughters called the owner to explain as this was a special event that turned terrible. Orig. the owner called back to ask what we would want as a refund... my daughter mentioned either another dinner for our group or a refund. The owner offered for two people? ... We had 8 in the party and all were affected by this terrible service. I personally called and s/w **** *** * she relayed that she would not do anything more than two people and did not apologize for the terrible service. She then said she would call my daughter back to offer something - this was back in August - and we have not heard back from her. At this point we do not want another dinner - we would like the money back - over $300.00 !

Desired Settlement: We went to the restaurant first and rec'd no apologies or a viable resolution - we feel that the only fair thing to do is refund the money. We will never visit the restaurant again (this was a restaurant that we would visit during special occasions (i.e. wedding anniv. / birthdays (50th), religious events, etc. The waitress was rude, the owner was not concerned about our business - Originally was going to write to the local paper to inform others about the terrible service, 1st we'll try BBB.

I am writing in response to the letter of complaint regarding service issues for a party of 8 in August
2012. It has been our policy for the 41 years that we have been Buxton Innkeepers, that every customer
concern is very important. I did respond to the daughters immediately, and offered my sincere
apologies for the service issue. She stated it was a special occasion for her parents and relayed some of
her concerns. I offered to call her parents and did talk with them that day. I also expressed my regrets to
them for their service issues. I offered to refund the cost of their meals and they declined saying they
wanted all of their daughter's money back.
The incidents described are certainly not representative of our customer- oriented business. The
issues were addressed with the server. In the interest of continued good customer relations, we are
willing to refund one hundred & fifty dollars, ( $150.00 ) with our sincere regrets for the service issues.
Since there were no complaints whatever on the quality of food, we think a 50% refund is fair.
