Brendan Burke, a senior at Burncoat High School in Worcester, has been chosen the 2008 winner of Better Business Bureau of Central New England, Inc.'s prestigious Student Ethics Award Scholarship recognizing his high commitment to school and to the community. Mr. Burke, along with BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics winners Home Staff, LLC of Worcester and JM Remodeling of Webster, will be honored at the annual BBB Torch Awards Banquet on October 29 at the Crowne Plaza in Worcester. The public is invited to attend the dinner and speech by Dateline NBC Correspondent Chris Hansen to celebrate the award winners’ commitment to ethical practices.
"It is an honor to recognize Brendan Burke for his academic achievements and commitment to the community." said Nancy Cahalen, BBB President/CEO. "BBB is committed to supporting the development of our future leaders. Brendan is an amazing young man and an exemplary role model. His accomplishments in academics, sports, community service and the arts, display an amazing versatility.”
The BBB Student Ethics Scholarship judging was based on a student’s leadership, community service, and academic performance, as well as an essay. Mr. Burke’s service within and beyond his school, plans for the future, and academic successes have all led to his selection as the recipient of this year’s award.
