CONTINENTAL GENERAL has yet to pay LTC policy. Every time I call they need another document or it is with the examiner and will be 4-6 weeks. They now owe over $14,000. The newest is the examiner will reach out? I ask howprobably a phone call or mail. Can not get clear info. This company is a scam.Continental General Insurance Company Response

I was forced to lapse after three 20% premium increases in six years. The amount already paid in premiums they quoted was $8,000 less than I calculated from my own records. Phone calls not returned.Review from Debbie K

This is the WORST insurance company ever. Do not buy long term care with them. My mom has dementia and has been in assisted living since October. We took her out due to the fact that she cannot continue to pay for the care. Family is staying with her while waiting on a decision from the insurance company. They keep adding things that they say they have never received that they havent even asked ******* insurance is a scam. They tell me its not possible to talk to a manager.Im guessing they dont have any? I am in the process of starting legal proceedings to see if we can get any help.Bottom line. Dont buy insurance from them and do a lot of research before you sign up for any long term care!Continental General Insurance Company Response

My mother is in assisted living with dementia. Try to get policy activated that she was paying on since *****. What a scam! Long term care with Continental general is a scam . Everytime you call them , you have to listen to music and they give you a run around. They just take the money for their bonuses! That's about all it's worth! When you do get in touch with them, the office is closed for a meeting ( probably a party). I've never seen anything like this poor business model that they portray. Numerous other people from other states have told me to beware of this company. I guess they are right!Review from Mary T

This is one of the worst companies that I have ever had to deal with! I have to call them every week to make sure they are sending payments to the home health agency that we are using. Every time I ask to speak to a manager, they say that it is not possible. It is impossible to give them any information except via fax machine! It is almost like I have a part time job just trying to get them to send the checks. Terrible company! Please consider purchasing a policy with a different company.Review from Rich O

This long term care is an absolute scam! My father paid over $32,000 in premiums for himself over 20 years and when he went into a nursing home and it was time to collect on the insurance, there was a 90 day "elimination period" where nothing is paid by this insurance, and then of the additional $14,000 my mother paid out for his care after the 90 day period, she was reimbursed only $3400 due to the "maximum payout per day". It also took them 3 months after his passing to finally send out the check, My mother's premium had been $3300 per year and she discontinued her policy after what they pulled with her husband's claim. This company is sure raking it in off the backs of unsuspecting seniors.Review from Meagan O

This company does everything it can to delay paying claims. My mom has been in an assisted living center due to Alzheimer's for a year and every month it's the same thing with this company. They claim they don't receive the claim form although I have fax confirmations that they were received, they delay entering the claims into the system once received, the claim then needs to go through a "review process", etc. It's always something so they don't have to pay! I've put it on my calendar to call them EVERY SINGLE WEEK to check on the status of the claims until they're paid and I don't think they would EVER be paid if I didn't follow up continually. There is NO WAY and elderly person - certainly not one with Alzheimer's - could possibly navigate the complex, devious scheme this company has set up to delay reimbursement. Thankfully, we're only one month behind in receiving payment right now because cash gets tight when we're 3-4 months behind and they're still playing games about why they haven't sent the reimbursements. Ridiculous!!Review from Ann S

My father was a ********* resident who was in hospice in the last 1-2 months of life, from August-September 2021 before he passed away and was in Assisted Living from May-August 2021. The bottom line is that his ************** Insurance, Continental General Insurance Company, acted in bad faith and refused to reimburse him for Assisted Living and **************** services rendered in accordance with his policy that was originally purchased in the *************. With the completion of each required form and piece of information, Continental General delayed sending a copy of my father's policy for 4 months and sent letters with new, never-before-known forms to my father stating that the claim could not be processed without the newest form. It is my belief that these piece-meal requests for information were used to circumvent the required claim reimbursement and preparation for the best selection of Activities of Daily Living for reimbursement for Assisted Living and ****************. I worked with Continental General to obtain reimbursement from May through the present in 2021. A week before my father passed, Continental General stated that my father did not qualify for reimbursement citing a very little-known ********** of ************** Release from the ****s. I highly recommend that all **** consumers refrain from purchasing or find a way to liquidate ************** Insurance from Continental General Insurance Company.
