            Total Surface Concepts installed vinyl plank flooring for my piered house in ********, ** in September 2021. The flooring is an impermeable flooring and is therefore subject to vapor drive and similar effects when summer-time air conditioning cools the vinyl flooring. The cold vinyl flooring immediately next to a warm moist subfloor of piered coasted houses causes a layer of moisture to develop between the subfloor and undersurface of the vinyl planks. This effect is only seen in the summertime when the airconditioning is used. This problem can be mitigated with special insulation applied to the undersurface of the subfloor that blocks both heat and humidity (closed cell foam) or a layer of hardiboard between the subfloor and vinyl flooring, which dissipates the hot/cold interface and allows moisture to wick to the edges of the room. Neither of the options was discussed with me and instead the flooring was applied directly to the subfloor and without mention of needing to have the subfloor insulation changed out or even inspected. Within a few weeks of turning on the airconditioning in mid May 2022, dripping wet moisture had accummulated throughout the entire house, between the vinyl flooring and subfloor, resulting in the need to remove the entire vinyl flooring (**** sq ft), as well as the need for weeks of dehumidification, and removal and replacement of 800 sq ft of subfloor. I am seeking reimbursement for the original flooring installation (*****.), house dehumidification (*********), subfloor removal and reinstallation ( *******) and moisture expert evaluation (800.)This amount of that I am seeking to be reimbursed does not include ****** dollars for the original vinyl flooring, removal and storage of all furnishings in the house, removal of the damaged vinyl flooring, or dumpster cost. I have included information on proper subfloor insulation for piered houses in humid climates from LSU AgCenter *********** and can provide additional info.

            Botched flooring installation ************************* (Total Surface Concepts) operates his floor company in bad faith and with dishonest problematic floor installation. Upon agreeing on the new replacement floor (**** sq. ft) contract price ($16,802.46) ******************* omitted discussing (in bad faith) additional costs incurring once the old flooring was removed. HE never discussed an additional cost of $770.00 to level the sub-surface cement foundation before proceeding with the vinyl planks installation. It was a dishonest after-thought because without this procedure, the installation cannot proceed due to risking vinyl planks appearing uneven with buckling at the seams. *********************** installer ignored additional preparation of the sub-surface cement foundation leveling outside the guest bathroom and the hallway leading into the master bedroom. As a result, there are soft spots,popping and crackling floor noises when you walk on those areas. Also, the installer left more inadequate floor areas thru-out the house that are now haphazard. (fell and broke my wrist because of the soft spots)In addition, the material quality of the product sold as per contract failed below the level of performance for the expensive price paid for material. The low quality flooring looks cheap and does nothing to add value to our home. I spoke and emailed ******************* abt the floors soft spots,popping and crackling sounds thru out the house. He came to the house to examine the floor and admitted that his installer made serious errors installing the floor but, refused to rectify- correct nor fix all the problematic areas. After several phone calls to his office and conversations; he still refused to fix the problematic and hazard areas. Instead, he requested I sign a written document stating (no fault) on his part for a $2000.00 refund. He first offered was $6000.00 refund, but changed his mind as our conversation processed. Total Surface Concepts is responsible for the poor workmanship
