Complaint: I had all my teeth pulled and purchased a temporary as well as permanent set of dentures from Bay Area Dentures. The final permanent set of dentures were delivered in November 2012. I had a lot of issues with the dentures not fitting correctly & went back several times. I purchased the high end dentures & was told they had a 6 year warranty. I went back to Bay Area Dentures last week & was told that the dentures definitely were not fitting properly & that I would need a complete new set. But since the practice had been bought from Dr. ******* by Dr. ******** they would not warranty the dentures. We were given an estimate of $7400.00 to get 4 implants & a new set of dentures. Honestly I just paid off the last set of dentures that do not fit & I had paid $7200.00 for them. I do not understand that since Dr. ******** bought the practice from Dr. *******, why doesn't he have to warranty the work done only one year ago?
Desired Settlement: I would like for Dr. ******** to fix my dentures so that they fit properly & I would like to be able to eat again. I have not enjoyed eating since getting these dentures. I should not have to purchase a whole new set of dentures & pay that ungodly amount on my own.

Re: Response to Complaint ID *******
I received the complaint letter, on 20 December, and would like to make the following response. The customer presented to my office, in December, with an ill-fitting set of complete dentures. I performed a comprehensive exam and determined that the patient needed to have either a reline of their present dentures or a complete new set of dentures in order to correct their issues, due to shrinkage of their ridges and gums. I talked extensively with the patient about their options. They stated their interest in having a new set of dentures made and would like to have implants, also. We talked about how their dentures were made by the previous owner of the business. They told me that the previous owner would not help them to correct the issues with their dentures, even though there was a warranty. I explained how there were many patients with similar complaints and that I would be more than happy to reline their present dentures or make them a new set, but that I would have to charge them because I am essentially a new business. They seemed to be ok with this.
I purchased Bay Area Denture Center in May, 2013. It was a legal "assets only purchase and I changed the business name to Bay Area Denture and Surgery Center. Medical and Dental practices are sold as "assets only" purchases so that the new provider does not incur any of the liability of the previous owner, clinically or financially. This is to protect the new owner from being sued for any malpractice or financial Irresponsibility of the previous owner. I would financially go out of business if I were held responsible to remake the dentures of the unhappy patients from the previous owner, at no charge.
I would be more than happy to perform a reline of the patient's dentures, and It wouldn't cost even 10% of the charge that Is stated in the complaint.
