BBB first identified a pattern of complaints for Protect America in 2004. BBB has worked with Protect America since that
time in an attempt to eliminate the underlying cause and the pattern of
complaints. Recently, BBB has seen a diminished volume in disputes against Protect America.
BBB identified the following patterns of complaints: Consumers complaints allege the they canceled their service agreement but the company continued to charge them. Protect America has responded to BBB indicating the cancellation policy is listed in their Terms and Conditions in their contract. Additionally the company states that every consumer is notified about the cancellation policy during the initial sale. The company generally requires that the consumer follow cancellation procedures as indicated in the contract.
Consumer complaints received by BBB also allege that the monitoring equipment received does not work as designed. Company has generally responded by stating that the consumer installation of equipment was incorrect and Protect America has set up quality control measures to attempt to prevent installation issues.
