Complaint: I went to AAMCO in the month of august and didn't have my car repaired until December. My car indicated there an issue, because the engine light was on, so I took it to AAMCO. **** "******" *******, the Customer service manager gave me a quote of 4,389.21 dollars for the repair. Three weeks later, I received my car with all repairs done. A few days later my car's engine light came back on. **** said they didn't know why the light was back. I went to the dealership to get a diagnostic test($112) and was informed that they broke my TCM(transmission control module) without replacing it, instead they put a zip tie around it. The mechanic at the dealership said it was due to their negligence, which they denied. I went confront AAMCO and they said they will replace the TCM, with another used TCM that they found at a junk yard. In the process of repairing my transmission they managed to cause another problem, which made my car alarm go off randomly throughout the day. It would go off when I was at work and in the middle of the night. They fixed the alarm. Later on when I was driving, the engine turned off by itself in the middle of traffic. I called AAMCO, they told me to get the car to them without assisting me. The engine turned off six more times before I made to their location. The mechanics didn't tighten a battery cable before giving the car back to me. Almost a week later my engine light was still on. I went back to AAMCO, they said it could be something related to the cars computer and said it would be in my best interest to take it to the dealership since they do not deal with that. At this point, I no longer wanted to deal with AAMCO. The dealership said my mass air flow sensor were rubbing against other wires causing the engine light to come back on, when I made right turns there was clicking noises on the passenger side due to broken Axel and steering rack. The dealership said these problems were mostly due to AAMCO's mechanics work on the transmission, which cost me another $3,000 to fix.

Desired Settlement: AAMCO fixed the transmission but left multiple damages to other parts of my car. I would like them to compensate me for the repairs I had done at the dealership. The amount of $2999.40 for the repairs. I would also like the $112 for the diagnostic test from the dealership which I had to pay for stated in my claim because AAMCO couldn't figure out what the problem was. Bringing the total amount to 3111.10.

Business Response: These accusations are false. Mr. ****** called while he was at the dealership. He actually put the service adviser on the phone with AAMCO's manager. The service adviser told him that the wire that was bad was not near where we had worked on the vehicle. Mr. ****** was told that his axle needed to be replaced while it was at AAMCO. He declined the repair. Later after yelling at the manager, the manager told him he would replace it at no charge. Mr. ****** declined. AAMCO is not at fault will not refund any money.

Consumer Response: Complaint: *******

I am rejecting this response because: This statement from Aamco is not true,  they never offered to replace my axle for free. I did not yell at the service manager, I simply repeated myself to the new service manager (****) on how can he correct all the problems the previous service manager (**** "******" *******) had done to my car. I was informed by **** the new service manager that **** "******" ******* was let go, and that **** would correct the mistakes done to my car. In the end it was just all talk, and nothing was fixed. I went to my dealership to find out what the real problem was with my car, about the TCM that Aamco couldn't find out. Its not that Aamco couldn't figure out what the problem was, they try to blame the engine light is due to a computer problem. The dealership said it was due to a broken TCM that was cause by Aamco when they work on my transmission. Then i went back to Aamco to show them what the dealership had found out. During my presence at Aamco I told ****** to call my dealership and talk to them so they can show Aamco what the real problem was and how to fix it.  ****** insisted that he will call them later when he's not busy, but at that time I didn't see him doing anything else. I can get my service guy at the dealership to confirm this fact, his name is **** (***** **** ******). I have the paperwork from the dealership for the diagnostic test showing the error for the TCM connector being broken and zip tie that was used to keep TCM in place instead of replacing the connector. Aamco is a suppose to be a best transmission auto care franchise, but I wasn't provided the best auto care service that I paid for.

I am rejecting this response because:The bottom line is Aamco at round rock, Tx is a well known establishment with false advertisement. Bad customer service and the mechanics there can't do the job right causing more problems to my car. I lost money and time. Constantly stressing over more problems because of the horrible repair work  from Aamco. They can continue to deny the situation all they want, but the fact is they did poor job on my car, got my money and will not take responsibility for the damage.

10/4/2013 Problems with Product/Service | Read Complaint Details

Complaint: On September 11th I had a check engine light on. We had the diagnostic code ran and it came up as an ignition coil. We brought it to Aamco and they confirmed that it was the ignition coil needing repair and that it would be ready on Friday September 13th. We did not hear back. On Saturday the 14th I called and the manager ****** informed me that they created a vacuum leak and they were trying to repair it. He never informed us that he would need additional time. When I asked him when I could pick up the vehicle he had no firm date. Then after the leak was fixed he called a week later to say that there was an MTV solenoid of the manifold gasket that went out that they had not previously seen and that part was discontinued and he had to find it in a junk yard. I drove my car there and now it is un-drivable. He said there was no time frame for when my car would be ready. Then on Friday September 27th he calls to say the throttle body went out and that we would be responsible for that as well even though the car had none of these problems when it was dropped off. Today September 30th he calls to say that he needs an extra $200 to flash the computer at a local dealership for the work to be complete. I called 3 dealerships including the one he claims he was taking it to and they said it only cost $105.50 to flash. We go and pay for the repairs to get the vehicle and get it flashed ourselves and now there is an exhaust leak that he is not taking responsibility for. Now the car is still undrivable after he accepted our payment and still stuck at the repair shop.

Desired Settlement: We want to vehicle to be repaired and in driving order. We also want our money refunded for all the extra work that he created above the ignition coil.

Business Response: I have contacted the customer and run an investigation into this matter. I oversaw the repairs from that point. All repairs have been taken care of at no further expense to the customer. The customer is happy.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *******, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
