Additional Notes

Complaint: We had a coupon for service to be performed by DC Tile through "Angie's List" for a tile install to be done in our bath room. We met at my house and after they look at the job that needed to be done, we both agreed on the pricing and I signed the DC contract for that specific amount on Angie's coupon. Once they started the tearup of the tile and removing the tub DC came back and said they can do this job because they are losing money by honoring the coupon and I needed to come up with more money inorder to continue with the work. Well my bath tub had been removed and tile removed I had to come up with more money. Then came the problems with trying to get workers out to my site to continue the work this started on June 23, 2014. Well I received a call that one of their workers was out sick that it delayed the previous job they had and would reschedule me the following week which I agreed. On July 7th they but no-show until July 11th when they showed up at 3:45pm and didn't see them till July 14th. Then problems are still occuring on pricing when it was time to install the tile they said that the type of tile to be installed involved more work because of the quality of the tile, they were asking for more money and this is even before the job was started they saw what kind of tile it was. So I ended up paying double of what I want to pay. Now at the end of their job my shower floor was puddling up at one end because the slant of the shower bed was not sloped correctly according to DC Tile and they would correct this problem. They said they would cover the expense of buying the new tile that was going to be installed, I went out and bought the tile costing me $269.00 and they came out to fix the slant on floor and reseated the new tile. Then I questioned about the agreement that they would reimburse the $269 and their response was "that I would observe the cost of the tile if they did a good job". The other thing was scheduling their workers come out, they would tell me that they would be there on certain days and they would never show up. I have text messages that I've kept to back me up.

Desired Settlement: Warn other consumers about this company that they are not true to their word.

Business Response: ****,

I am **** ******** of dctile and remodeling. I worked with Angie's list to offer a coupon to the public for tile an existing shower with material allowance of 250.00. Price was for 1699.00. I sent out my sub **** out to discuss the deal with ***** a couple days after Angie's list posted it because he had questions. A tub to shower conversion is more labor intense because the plumbing has to be all rerouted, and mud set floor towards center drain. New valve etc.
We then quoted him a price and  during the removal and prep work, ***** throws a curve ball by bringing in marble tile on mesh. That is very meticulous work to do. I told him an additional 1250 we would finish it just settle up with what we got done so far if we didn't come up with an agreement. He agreed to compensate for the change and we proceeded. Once we were finished with the job ***** settled up and we had closed that job like hundreds before. I sent out my inspector to check the slope of the water floor. And came out negative. There was a little pool where it gathered. I immeditely notified ***** and told him we would fix that no charge as far as labor. He ordered the tile and paid for it. 269.00. And we re -sloped the shower floor. Other companies would've never called back and want to help him with his issue. He told my installer if satisfactory on slope he would take care of Cost of tile. Now 2 months later ***** been tarnishing my name in any which way possible. Next step is legal action for slandering. I have tried multiple times to reach out to ***** to discuss a settlement of anything. He will not listen and ignores my estimators phone calls. I'm willing to give him his 269.00 refund. As long as he removes all reviews about my company. His shower was outstanding. Very artistic look from my installers. Granted a few times my installers ran behind schedule the result is clearly immaculate.

Consumer Response: Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:  I have no objection with the way the bathroom walk in shower turned out, we like it very much.  The issue is not the money which I stated prior that I would absorb this.  Before we had signed the contract we were told just to get the tile (never mentioned what tile would be covered under this contract) the company left themselves open to this and they also stated they would finish the job within 2 weeks.  First, the project start date was delayed on their part  then the work was not consistent, several times they would show up late or couldn't make it out that day, there was always an excuses.  This project was completed just under a month and many times we had to rearrange our schedule to accommodate their workers.  The money was never the issue whenever **** asked for money to pay his co-workers we never hesitated, even though the project was not completed, many people lose their money by paying up front, we trusted them that they would come out and continue their work which they did.

The bottom line to all this is yes, we are very satisfied with the end result but the excuses for their co-workers not being able to come out on the days they said they would come out and also trying to put all of the blame on us when you need to step up and take some responsibility.

Regards,

***** *****
