Additional Notes

Complaint: I had a leak on my Swimming Pool Pump Case and filed a claim through ******** **** ****** for repairs. This leak in the pump casing was NOT in the shaft seal bearing but on the exterior of the pump. When splitting the pump casing to repair/replace the housing the pump casing ran pool water into the electric motor assembly. Alamo Pool and Spa did nothing to remove the water from the electric motor at the time of dis-assembly. They just laid the motor on the pump foundation and left it there for 4 days while they took the pump casing back to their shop to repair/replace the housing. Alamo Pool and Spa returned four days to re-assemble the pump/motor and re-install them in the system, the motor was extremely loud when it restarted. I called ******** **** ****** to have Alamo Pool & Spa return to repair the now loud motor and when Alamo Pool & Spa returned they agreed it is loud however not loud enough that they thought ******** **** ****** would cover replacement. I called the owner/president of Alamo Pool and SPA back and he said it was not covered by ******** **** ******. I called ******** **** ****** and they told me they would not cover the damages caused or allegedly caused by the contractor they sent out to do the repairs. They said I would have to take it up with Alamo Pool and SPA. Alamo Pool and SPA says it is nothing they did, bearings go bad when they get wet and dry out. The bearings are sealed and not serviceable. When Alamo Pool and SPA came out to check the noise, they said it doesn't affect the pump, but reality is, they just listened to the noise, they did not check the amperage draw of the motor or the pump output to see if it did affect the pump.

Desired Settlement: My pump and motor were NOT noisy before Alamo Pool & Spa took them apart to repair them, so they should NOT be noisy now. I would like either my bearings replaced or the motor replaced. Their choice.

Business Response:
I am writing this in response to Mr. ********* complaint regarding his pool pump. The original call was to repair a leak where the pool pump had been drilled on and allowed water to leak out of the housing, at that time the pump motor had a slight noise coming from it but it was very much functional, in fact the noise the pump produced if on a scale of 1-10  was a 2 if that high. with this being a home warranty service request this motor would have to fail or have a mechanical failure for me to get permission to have it replaced from the home warranty company. I also had my senior technician go out and check the pump and he reported back that the pump sounded fine and appeared to have good pressure with no need for further action. Mr. ******** insists this noise is due to my repair and the pump is not functional. This is not the case, the pump and motor are both functional and in good working order, if that should change he can call his home warranty and have the pump looked at as it is a covered piece of equipment should it fail.. Due to the avenue Mr. ******** has chosen to handle this issue, I would have to ask that he not call upon my company for service again. I am here to answer any questions.

Thank You

Consumer Response: Complaint: *******

I am rejecting this response because: I have had a second company come out to give me another opinion.  They concurred the bearings in the motor are bad and need to be replaced.  The bearings are sealed and cannot be replaced without replacing the motor. They also agreed with me that if Alamo Pool and Spa allowed water to go from the pump into the electric motor, that is why the bearings are bad now. As ***** stated in his response the motor had a little noise (which I do not agree with), the company that gave me a second opinion stated on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 6.  I never stated in my original complaint the motor didn't work, I stated it is now noisy. I am paying another pool company to replace my motor, since the bearings are sealed and the only way to fix it, is to replace the motor.  I still think since the additional damage was done from the repairs made by Alamo Pool and Spa, Alamo Pool and Spa should be accountable for the repairs and pay for the motor replacement.

Regards,

****** ********
