Additional Notes

Complaint: I am not satisfied with my recent Mangold Roofing roof job. It is not the quality job I received from Mangold in the 1990's. I am holding the final insurance check and will gladly submit it to Mangold Roofing when I am totally satisfied. I have met with the owner of the business, Mr. ***** ******* and with the sub-contractor hired by Mangold to do the job, ***** *****. Neither man has conveyed to me in person that they are interested in resolving the matter correctly.I have received a certified letter (formal notice) that Mangold may put a lien on my home. I have also received an email that Mangold may take this to a legal level. I feel threatened and do not appreciate it.

Desired Settlement: There has been an inspection on my roof that has failed. I am working with and referencing others to have more possible deficiencies (I suspect) found and proven. I suspect my roof replacement by Mangold might have to be redone (settlement). **** **********

Business Response: Mangold Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc entered into a contract with Mrs ********** on November 13, 2013 to re roof a wood shingle roof on her home in ************ This would be the third time Mangold Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc had installed a wood shingle roof on her home. The roofing project was completed and inspected by Mr. ***** ******* and his superintendent on November 15, 2013. When the final bill was presented to Mrs. ********* she refused to pay and when questioned why she wouldn't honor the contract which she had entered in to she would only say that "she wasn't at peace with the roofing job". Mr. ***** ******* has requested a copy of the inspection report and to date has not received anything. Therefore, Mangold Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc had no recourse except to seek a legal remedy as provided by law.

Consumer Response: Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: The words used in by Mangold Roofing's response do not seem quite accurate to me.  To my knowledge, and since I have been the owner of my home, I have only had a wood shingle roof put on my home twice by Mangold Roofing.  First in the 1990's and now.  The first time I was very satisfied with no questions or concerns.
I have never flat refused to pay Mr. Mangold or Mangold Roofing.  I always emailed and said I would submit the final insurance check when I am satisfied with the job.
I cannot remember being directly questioned about the contract.  I received a contract yes, and signed a contract,  but never said I would not honor it.
Again, an inspection was conducted and was failed by an inspector.  The entity I worked through told me they would notify Mr. Mangold of the failed inspection.
I have since been in contact with a third party inspector who is scheduled to conduct an additional inspection.   I have also been in contact with a representative of the manufacturer of the shingles used on my home. I am educating myself and getting a lot of important information by referencing others on this matter.

I just want Mr. Mangold, whom I've always respected, to do the right thing.  This recent Mangold Roofing job is not the quality Mangold Roofing job I received in the past.  Again, I am not satisfied with the job and when I am, I will gladly submit the final insurance check.  Respectfully, **** ********** (*****)

Business Response: After all this time you still have not stated clearly stated  what exactly is wrong with the roof. Please send a list of your concerns so we can get this matter resolved.

Consumer Response: Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:  I am not rejecting the response...just clarifying I did indeed question and express concern for some of the things I suspected were not right with my recent roof job to the owner of Mangold roofing and the sub-contractor he hired to do the job when I met them at my home.

Since my response yesterday to the BBB (concerning the previous business's response to me through the BBB ), the business emailed me personally (in what I felt was an attempt to begin resolving the matter correctly).  I thanked the person who sent the email for the business and said I would work on what they were requesting to resolve the matter correctly.

I would like to reject the offer of Mediation for complaint ID ********.

Note:  On 5/5/14 at 4pm, ****** ****** (**@******************t) o* ******** Roofing in San Antonio Texas, came to inspect my roof.  Mr. ****** said my roof was installed

          incorrectly (*******).
If the BBB process now allows,  I will now go back to the owner of the Mangold Roofing Company (who had one company employee email me personally after I filed a

          complaint with the BBB).

I will ask Mr. ******* to do the job over (total correct replacement) and oversee the job every step of the way providing someone else (preferably the same crew who

did the job on my home in the early 1990's).  I do not want Mr. Limon (subcontractor Mangold Roofing used who recently incorrectly installed my roof) nor any of his

          crew back on my property.

This "redo" roof replacement means using nails only, replacing all my insulation, putting the spacers back, replacing the cracked slats and notifying me

(as per the contract states that I signed) for approval for any other boards needing to be replaced, picking up all shingles, nails, etc  Mangold Roofing will also

provide all new shingles (same grade I had provided) from the Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau (who is the manufacturer).   I expect the "redo" roof

replacement to be the same quality job (without concern and question) I received from Mangold Roofing Company in the early 1990's.
