*********************** owner of Austin Lath and Plaster I hired *********************** to repair my home. He was to repaint all the stucco, repair trim, and replace wood where needed on trim and soffit, re-paint front and back door and door trim, repair, replace areas in the soffit, and repaint all trim. They were also supposed to remove the old electrical conduit to the old electrical box and repair the stucco underneath that area after removal of those parts and paint that area as well. The painters that ***** brought did no prep on the doors and painted latex paint over oil paint on top of old paint and dirt. Needless to say the paint would not dry and began to bubble and pull off the doors. I brought this problem to the attention of ***** the day they completed the project. I then brought it to Celsos attention the week after they completed the project telling him the paint would not dry. I showed him pictures of where they had painted on top of the dirt and trash. The paint on the trim and the doors immediately began to peel away and blister. I called ***** for many months because the work was supposed to be guaranteed. He sent out one painter who refused to do the work when he realized how big the job would be. He sent out another painter who refused to do the work for the same reason. He then told the second painter to tell me that it was not their paint peeling off the doors and trim, that it was in fact, the old paint peeling off the doors and trim, and they were not responsible for the old paint. I complained to him the same day. They finish the job and explain to him that I had told the painters they had to prep the doors correctly , sanding and priming in order for the paint to stay on the doors and be smooth. Not only have they not prepped the doors, they painted the doors without opening the doors. So when the doors were open, the old paint color was evident on the edge of the door because they had not bothered to make sure they painted the entire door. When I complained about this, they put another coat of latex on top the latex on top the oil.The patch that they made where the electrical conduit was immediately began to pull up away from the wall, crack and show signs of leaking into the wall when it rained. They also left parts of the electrical conduit attachment there which caused holes in the wall where water could get through. When I complained of this issue, ***** said that I had made the deal to fix the conduit and the stucco directly with the painters, and not with him and therefore he was not responsible for that bad job. I showed him the invoice, that I immediately paid the next day, where he had invoiced for that repair job, and I had paid him directly. He denied that was the case even though I actually sent a copy of the invoice showing that he charged for the repair. When I explain to him that I was fed up and was going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, he told me that it was their policy, not to do any prep work on the building when they were doing any kind of paint job, and that they only power washed the dirt off. Nowhere in a contract or a description did ***** ever say they did no preparation for their application of paint. That was the most ludicrous statement. Anyone who could have said this, can not considered themselves painters. Because of this statement, not only are these areas of great concern, but now I am concerned about my entire house and the job they did. I kept telling the painters they were moving too fast and they were not prepping my house properly and were putting on such a thin coat of paint that I could see problems in the future. According to *****, his work is guaranteed. He needs to come make everything right or give me my money back. Sadly, ***** told me that the painter that did my house were very bad painters, he had fired them, and they caused him lots of other problems as well. This is why he should refund the job. He told me the job was a bad job.
