I signed the contract with VanRossun Consulting for a shower and bathroom floor remodel and paid 50% of the total ($7644) on 7/21/21. I was told they would start in August and it would be a 3-4 day job. They did not start until 12/13/21. They completed the floor and started on the shower and requested an additional $5,000 of the remaining balance which I paid on 12/21. There was issues with the workmanship of the shower and I tried repeatedly to get them to come back out to address them- the shower heads were installed so close that they overlapped and were at different heights, there was issues with the grout being uneven and discolored, the water was pooling to a corner of the drain and the drain cover they installed didn't match my showerheads, etc. There was also no glass installed, and the second shower head hadn't been fully installed with holes still in the wall so the shower remained unusable. Weeks went by and when the owner ***** finally did come out to look at the problems he just insulted me, cursed several times, and said "you'll get what you get." A couple more weeks went by and still no further work was scheduled. I offered to terminate the contract under the condition that I got to keep the remaining materials (tile, grout, shower glass) and no further payments would be made. On 2/5/22 ***** responded via email agreeing to terminate the contract. I made multiple attempts to ask him to return the shower glass to me and sign something to make the contract termination official, but after that email he never responded via phone or email again. I sent a letter via certified mail on 2/19/22 to the mailing address listed on my contract notifying them of the intent to terminate the contract and again requested they return or make available the shower glass. I have not received a response. I would like a legal termination of contract agreement and my shower glass returned.
