Complaint: On April 18, 2012, ***** Condominiums (Austin, TX) experienced a three alarm fire which resulted in substantial damage to four units (two one-bed, one-bath and two two-bed, two-bath units) and ultimately the loss of my home. A1 Service was automatically hired by my HOA (******* **** ****** ********) under "emergency" circumstances (and without consultation of any of the ***** owners) to repair all exterior damages. It took approximately seven months (November 2012) for A1 to complete those repairs. Far longer than any of us owners expected or desired. *** ****** (A1 Services) was the main contractor during those months. When it finally came time to begin the interior repairs, the owners were instructed to individually meet with *** and do a run-through of their units. During my initial meeting with ***, I (and a witness on my behalf) discussed the possibility of hiring A1 Services to complete the repairs on my home. My initial preference was to find and hire a different company, but I requested a bid from A1 for comparison purposes. When I mentioned this to *** he informed me that due to A1 Services' previous work, they had rights to all of the permits for ***** Condominiums and would require me to pay $300 to $500 to transfer those permits to another contractor, as well as a few additional weeks. Unfortunately as a result, I made the mistake of hiring A1 Services. I met with *** that following January and signed a contract with A1. That contract required their services for three things; plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. My condo is a two-bed, two-bath unit but nothing requiring an overwhelming amount of work. Since signing my contract with A1 eight months ago, they have lost two copies of my house key which were intended for the installation of a lock box (which still has not been done), done little to no work with no explanation as to why, and charged me for work that was not completed . I have tried numerous occasions to contact *** ****** but have gotten almost no response. I have received one phone call from him since January, and had two brief meetings with him at my condo. I am a 23 year old, single female and I feel that Mr. ****** does not take me, or my situation seriously.

Desired Settlement: This process has greatly exceeded the necessary time frame required for completion. I am on the verge of homelessness and need for all of A1's required services to be successfully completed as soon as possible.

Business Response:
I have responded  to this complain already once.

I have met twice with ******* ***** once at my office and once onsite.  The unit was not ready for my company to continue work.  There are several items that need to be done by The owners (******).  

We have agreed for them to get the countertop and the cabinets in so we can mount the sinks so we can continue.  The Electrical items were completed last week.  The Air conditioning has been done for sometime. 

In conclusion there was delay due to the owners not finishing their portion of the work so we could return and top out the plumbing work.

Consumer Response: Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *******, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
