Complaint: Contact with Carpet Supply Company (CSC Floors) stated that we would pay 50% upfront and the remainder upon installation of carpet. Carpet installers ran out of carpet (wrong measurement) and did not finish carpeting before they left on Friday, September 20. Rather than delaying the remaining charge until the rest of the carpet was installed, they charged the remaining 50% on September 20 without telling us. Absolutely unacceptable. Separate from the unauthorized credit card charge, there were instances of sales person running late, trying to change appointment times once a commitment had been made, having expectations that we would make ouselves available multiple times in a week rather than consolidating appointments. Just overall bad experience.

Desired Settlement: CSC Floors needs to do a better job of managing customer expectations and keeping commitments.

Business Response:

The client was explained our policy of charging the 2nd 50% of the contract on the day of installation, which is consistent with industry standards.  It was not known until the end of the day that the install was

short 1 closet.  The closet was installed the following Thursday which was the first day convenient for the client and installers.  Although the source of the shortage remains unresolved, the client was given the

additional carpet, pad, installation labor and tax rather than being asked to pay for it.  

Our representative made every effort to accomodate the client's schedule.  The following is her report: 

The client was scheduled for an install on Friday, September 20th and the install was completed expect for one small closet.  Our measurements were correct, but due to the large areas, turns and two stair

cases, the carpet was a few feet short.  I informed the client the installer was not available on Monday or Tuesday and could finish the small closet on Wednesday.   She said Thursday would be better for

the AC man would be there as well.  I was there with the installer promptly at 8:30 am Thursday to finish the install.  I informed the client it is our company policy to ask for half down at the time

of scheduling and then the remaining balance the day of the install.  Overall we did a great job and I provided excellent customer service.  I've answered every text and e-mail from the client and her

husband whom I've never meet or spoken to. The client stated he has already been transferred to Chicago.

BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
