Complaint: My truck was broken at my ranch. I called a diesel mechanics and he said it was probably the AC compressed (which was correct) and he told me how to trace the serpentine belt and when checked it was on all pulleys, not broken in half . Then we had a tow truck come pick up the truck there was no antifreeze fluid or transmission fluid coming out of the truck. Once the truck was dropped off at the dealership their diagnoses was serpentine belt was shredded in half, wrapped around the main crane shaft pulley which they said broke the fan, the fan shroud housing, poked a hole in the radiator and transmission cooler. This damage was not done when the truck was picked up. There is a possibility that the belt broke when the service technician tried to start the truck but that was not what I was told. I was told all this damage was done when they received the truck which is not true, due to the lack of fluids leaking it should be easy to investigate. Tow truck company ****** Towing in ***** ************. There were also four other people who saw the truck before it was towed and after it was put on the truck that would be happy to verify this information if you would like their contact information I can provide it.
Desired Settlement: I would like to pay only for the parts that were broken when the truck was dropped off. You can easily verify with the tow truck driver that there were no fluids leaking on his tow truck that would prove that the radiator and transmission cooler did not have a hole in it. Therefore it would also prove the belt was not broken in half where it could do the other damage that the service man claims was done. You don't have to take my word for it, investigate the situation.
Dear **** ****,
The customer’s vehicle was towed into our Dealership on 1-**-2014 after hours, vehicle was written up the next morning(1-**) by Service Advisor ***** ******. The repair order was written up as “Customer states check for engine noise”.
The vehicle was dispatched to one of our Certified Technicians( 18 years of employment here at Chaparral ) who evaluated the vehicle where towing service dropped it off, vehicle was pushed into a service bay by our Technician and a few other Techs. Our Technician was able to work up an estimate, Service Advisor then called Customer and advised him of needed repairs in which Customer approved on initial phone call. Our Service Advisor thinks it was the following day that Customer called him back and questioned about all the needed parts, Customer mentioned to Advisor that he was speaking to someone with a mechanical background, but to go ahead and repair vehicle as needed and save all the old parts which were put in bed of truck for customer. The vehicle was completed and delivered to customer on 1-**-2014. Chaparral Ford is a Family owned Dealership that has been in business for over 30 years in a small community, we have employees that live in and around this community. In saying this, we have no reason to question or doubt our Technician in this matter.
