On April 10, 2017, BBB requested Blueline Auto Group, Inc. substantiate or remedy claims made on their website and Craigslist which listed a used vehicle as “in excellent condition” accompanied by claims that it was inspected by their ASE certified technician. 

According to BBB Code of Advertising 1. Basic Principles of the Code;

1.1 "The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB. 
1.2 Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used.   
1.3 An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true. 
1.4 Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact."

BBB requested Blueline Auto Group, Inc. substantiate their claims by providing clarification and documentation to show that when they purchased the vehicle and when they sold it to one of their consumers, the vehicle was, to their knowledge, in the advertised state. If they were unable to provide substantiation, BBB requested Blueline Auto Group, Inc. provide BBB with substantiation to show that they had resolved any harm caused to their consumer. 

While the business responded and provided documentation to substantiate their claims, BBB has received information which indicates that a thorough review from an ASE certified technician would have indicated otherwise. BBB requested the business make a good faith effort to resolve the concerns with the consumer, but the business indicated no efforts would be made.
