Poor work done on trim...safety concerns
My mother ***** ****** *** w north st. ** *** il XXXXX...contracted this co. To remodel bathroom...she asked twice for a grab bar....they said it was the first they had heard of it....I called ****. I didnt get the feeling he gave a **** if he got back there or not..hence the complaint..the trim work was substandard at best...along tub and built in cabinet..she was ripped off....

Work done up to the standards of an good contracter

We would like this complaint to be excused due to the fact that we have no contract with Mr. **** ******. However, the contract he is referring to no where states the request for a grab bar or trim. When asked after contract was signed and project was started, we put in trim out of kindness to satisfy the customer. We have attached a copy of the contract for clarification.

I explicitly asked for a safety bar, on more than one occasion. This company's representative nodded consent. I realize now he had no intention of putting one in, since he did not include it in the contract, he saw a senior widow, probably thought I was an easy target.
My complaint stands, as I feel other trusting people out there need to know this company's tactics.

Final Business Response
We are sorry you see this that way but, our company does not do anything that is not on the contract. We did the trim out of kindness and it was a one time thing. We also do not discriminate whatsoever. We feel any other construction company would stay within their contract also. If the owner is willing to pay for a grab bar we will put one in and at the same time we will fix any problems with the trim.

Complaint
Workers broke apart the furnace pipe that comes out of the roof when they replaced our roof this summer 2014.
We received a new roof in June 2014. When the workers were finished with the job my husband noticed our furnace vent/pipe was crocked coming out of the top of the roof. He asked our neighbor if he thought it was crocked as well and he agreed that it was. My husband asked the workers and they said no its not we didn't do anything to it so its fine. So he let it go. Last Friday January 2nd 2014 I noticed the overhang on the back of the house was dripping water. My husband got on the roof to look around for and holes or clogs in the gutters and was unable to find anything. He then got in the attic and it was soaked and had white mold around most of the attic area. He looked around and noticed that the furnace and water heater vent pipe was disconnected and all of the furnace and hot water fumes and moisture were being released through out the entire attic. He immediately called the company and the receptionist said the owner was out and would return our call. She then called later that evening and said he would review our file and call us first thing Monday. He never returned our call on Monday. My husband called again on Tuesday and the owner answered the phone. He said he planned on being back in the office the next day and would call us.He never asked what was wrong, if everything was okay or if he could do anything about the situation. Wednesday has come and gone and we have still not heard from him or anyone at the company. Now that it is freezing outside we have large amounts of ice in the attic freezing over all of the roof nails and the roof vents are also frosted over. We are still waiting for a phone call or some kind of response from this company even any form acknowledgement would be nice.

Desired Settlement
Some form of acknowledgement and repairs if any damage was caused by the water and moisture over the last six months.

Mr. *** *******, owner of A&B Construction/Restoration contacted BBB by phone today to provide his response to this dispute. Mr. ******* stated the delay in his response was due to a family emergency that resulted in a relative passing away very recently.
Mr. ****** said he visted the home mid-January to inspect his customer's dispute about the furnace pipe. After inspection Mr. ******* reported to the homeowner that the pipe was connected, however due to the low levels of insulation in the home, that adding more insulation may help with the moisture problem. Mr. ******* stated to BBB that the work performed on the home in the summer of 2014 did not include any direct application or interference with the pipe, and further stated his employees did not go into the attic to do any work. He doesn't feel the work performed by the company resulted in the symptoms the consumer is describing in their dispute and recommends that the homeowner consider adding some insulation to the attic.
