I recommend you rent elsewhere if you are considering renting, and I recommend you do not entrust your property investment with Rex Properties if you are considering Rex Properties for managing your property--they will take 1 - 3 months to address any issues on your property which could cost you significant financial losses.
Expanded Review:
I leased with Rex Properties in ** ****** building Unit ***. Rex Properties will not address maintenance requests in a quick and efficient manner (see screenshots). Upon move in, I put in a maintenance request on 05/**/20 for a variety of broken issues. It took Rex Properties 1.5 months just to come out to the unit (above their office), and over 3 months to fix all issues. Additionally, prior to move out on June ***, I submitted a work order for a cabinet door that was falling off on 06/**/21. Rex did not come out to fix it until June ** - **. What is more, Rex tried to charge me for it until they realized (unprofessionally), that there was, in fact, a work order in for it.
In regard to customer service, Rex should stick to operations that require little customer interaction in my opinion. Hidden in Rex Properties lease is a clause that states that if you do not provide a 60-day move out notice before the end of your lease, Rex Properties will automatically renew your lease for another year. Moreover, Rex will not notify you via any form of communication that you must inform them of your plans. I will acknowledge that I failed to read that clause in the lease--however, I expected a notification from Rex Properties like that of well structured Property Management groups.
As I planned to move to ******* on May *** (the original end date for my lease), I went down to the office to ask some questions in early April. Rex Properties' staff, who you won't enjoy dealing with, told me that since I did not provide a 60-day notice, they automatically renewed my lease and that I would be responsible for a $500 lease break fee, 2-months rent, and a two months rent penalty payment. These expenses combined totaled to almost $4,360 on a lease that I had not even begun, and a lease that was automatically renewed for me by Rex without notification.
When I reached out to Paul K***, his customer service was just as poor as his staff's. He provided me with a contingent offer--he would waive one of the one month penalty payments if he can lease out my unit before July *** (the end of my 60-day notice). I accepted the offer then because I feared that the offer would be rescinded if I pressed the matter. Additionally, Paul acknowledged that he should be offering a 60-day notice reminder, but his property management software lacked the capability to do so. Paul's solution? Include a reminder on a newsletter that is not easily accessible (if there at all) somewhere on some platform that he does not even mention. See screen shots for poor customer service and acknowledgment). I believe that Paul, having loss no income as Rex was able to lease the unit before I moved out, could have provided a better outcome but chose profit built upon his own poor customer service and my own failure.
Rex Properties and Paul have good apartments. However, I believe Paul should stick to renovating buildings and limit customer interactions. They surely disappoint in this regard.
Paul, when you read this, I welcome constructive dialogue rather than the confrontational responses you provide in your emails and comments. I hope that you take this opportunity to improve your business and your customer service. I believe you have been in business far too long to act this. Strong business owners turn negative experiences into positive opportunities. -Kind Regards

We understand it can be upsetting to miss the notice requirement date cited by your lease. The notice requirement can be found in bold print on page one of the lease.
We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
