GOVERNMENT ACTION: August 3, 1999, the Arzonia Attorney General filed a lawsuit against Surf & Sun Tours, Inc. The suit alleges that some students were charged fees in order to board their planes and others charged for hotel insurance when they arrived at their destination; concerned parents and stranded students were unable to reach company representatives to obtain information, although such a service was advertised; and consumers were unable to receive refunds after filing complaints with the company. The suit is seeking restitution for consumers, an injunction to prevent the company and its owners from engaging in the advertisement and/or sale of vacation packages in or from Arizona, and attorney's fees and cost as well as civil penalties. This case is pending at this time.
