Work of Art Landscape performed an inferior service, and then will not fix the problems we have as a result of the inferior service.
We hired Work of Art Landscape to relandscape our front yard. ******* ***** performed the design (the design was great), while his father, *** *****, and his work crew performed the landscaping. They planned to start landscaping around the middle of May. We asked them if the new plants and grass would hold up under the summer heat. They responded that it would. They also said that if it didn't, they would warranty any plants or grass that did not make it. The week after installation, it got very hot (daily highs in the 105-110 range), and the grass and some plants started looking pretty bad. Work of Art increased the time water ran on the grass to try to keep it alive. It did not help much. Because of the amount of water put on the grass to try to keep it alive, the grass started to grow fungus in it. *** ***** assured us they would replace any of the dead grass and plants in September when they do warranty work. In October, they did come to do some warranty work. They replaced some of the sod (not all the dead sod, but some of it). They replaced most of the dead plants (but not all of them). And they did not add a new sprinkler to an area of grass that was dead because the sprinklers do not adequately cover the area. They only replaced two of the close sprinkler heads with longer-range sprinkler heads which not drench my next door neighbors driveway.
We would like the following areas addressed
1.) Dead grass spots in the front yard still. I asked ***** to replace the entire south area, he said he thought he would, but then you guys did not. I understand it got extremely hot after you planted the grass originally, but this should be covered by the 90 day warranty. I don't feel like we should wait a year while this "fills in".
2.) Some plants in the front yard were not planted deep enough, these need to be replanted.
3.) Dead annuals, that were dead all summer were not replaced per warranty.
4.) A few plants that were dead were not replaced, we would like these replaced.
5.) Some grass that was dead along the street edge was just cut away, and not replaced.
6.) There needs to be a sprinkler added to the north area of the lawn, so that next summer, there will be coverage of that lawn area, and the grass does not die.
We resolved the issue. We went above and beyond our contractual obligations.
