They charged an exorbitant amount to change my spark plugs, then installed them over-gapped and two were not completely seated according to Toyota.
I paid $783.26 to have maintenance issues (Transmission flush, Spark Plugs changed, Fuel injection service, etc., etc.,) resolved on my car, before having these issues addressed by Haven Auto, my car was giving me approximately 42.2 Miles per gallon according to the on-board computer; after having these repairs/tune-up my car immediately dropped to 38.8 miles per gallon.

I called the next day to complain about the soft mushy brakes and the mileage claim; the worker said that I can bring it in for inspection. Due to scheduling conflicts on my part I was not able to follow up on these issues until 4/7/2015, I brought my car to the shop and explained that the mushy/soft brakes kind of resolved themselves on their own, but after some time went by.

The issue of the lower fuel economy still remains, I told them that I made sure the tire pressure was accurate and even drove at a slower rate, but the mileage only slightly improved when I changed the octane of the fuel I used, to a higher grade, then I started receiving 40.1 miles per gallon, still far short of 42.2 miles per gallon.

The shop did a visual inspection of the vehicle and there was talk of perhaps it's a lazy O2 sensor, but Merdad suggested I get a second opinion.

I had a feeling something might be off with the spark plugs as the car was sluggish when I would accelerate and sometimes a slight secondary echo sound coming from the engine compartment when traveling at highway speeds. The next day I took my car to the actual Toyota dealership and paid them $61.77 for inspection of each individual spark plug; what the dealership found was that all the spark plugs were over-gapped and not even close to manufacturers specification, also there were two spark plugs that were not properly seated (The technician said that two of the crush gaskets were still whole without signs of being properly engaged) So two of my spark plugs were not even seated correctly on top of all of the spark plugs not being properly gapped according to manufacturers specifications.

Here is the Toyota dealerships exact notes:
"Customer request to remove sparkplugs and inspect sparkplug gap... Please report findings, gas mileage dropped about 3 miles a gallon after service/tune/efi service at independent shop
The Toyota technician replied: .45,.48,.45,.50 found manufacturer specs are .39-.43 set to .42 .............Found a couple of sparkplugs were not fully seated, (washer/gasket still fully extended)"

I went back to Haven Auto and showed them the Toyota dealerships notes, Merdad proceeded to call the findings "********" no way this could be true. He offered to pay me the $61.77 for the secondary inspection I had to make to prove the work I originally paid his shop to do, wasn't performed correctly to manufacturers specifications, I told him that I wanted the money back I originally paid his shop to perform the sparkplug change minus the cost of the actual parts, he refused based on the non-fact that he thinks the Toyota Technicians findings are "total ********" and told me he wasn't going to return me the monies I paid his shop for the labor, he will give me the $61.77 for the inspection I had to pay, for my second opinion, but I have to sign paperwork for him, which I refused and eventually left.

What I want out of this process is that his technicians should be equipped with a proper torque wrench(s), some basic education on auto repair and that the technicians should have access to manufacturer™s car manuals which specify tolerances and torque settings for the vehicles they are performing repairs on so people don™t die or have accidents from negligent/incompetent work being performed at Haven Auto Repair. VISA is helping me to recoup some of my costs incurred ($221.44 for sparkplug labor + $61.77 for secondary inspection) for this incident, but I would like a full refund of $783.26 so I can have the work I requested originally, redone at a competent facility such as the Toyota dealership.

Not very often, but once in while we come cross of an individual that our business philosophy and... Not very often, but once in while we come cross of an individual that our business philosophy and way of doing business does not synchronize with.
Unfortunately this was one of those cases that Mr. *** was not happy, even though we went above and beyond for him.
Mr *** started coming our shop for oil changes by purchasing a Groupon deal ( 4 oil changes ). From first day my manager brought to my attention that Mr. *** Does not respect our shop policies by walking into the shop and entering in restricted areas. By talking to him I understood that he has a trust issue. I personally like these type of challenges and let new customers check us out any way they want , to Prove to our new Client that we are the Real deal and trust-worthy. Almost all of clients after doing our do diligence, they realize that as far as honesty and integrity goes, we are the real deal. But Mr. ***'s case was different, the more I tried the worst it got to the point that the last service that he claimed to have "dropped $783.26" I asked him that he should take his business elsewhere , but he insisted that he wants us to work on his Toyota Prius because HE DOES NOT WANT TO GO TO DEALER. About two months after working on all we have done Mr. *** accused us of not doing services on his car. We had to spend an entire afternoon to prove that all services that he was charged, were done to his car by taking the tires off , undoing the brakes to show him new brakes, then he accused us of not changing his spark plugs or we put after market plugs, until we proved those plugs are factory parts too. I had my Master technician go over everything , explain to him that these new Hybrid vehicles are occupied with the computers that are extremely sensitive, and if spark plugs were installed loose or gapped wrong, Check Engine Light would come on almost immediately. According to Mr. ***," YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON AFTER. "
As far as charging him $221.44 to replace his spark plugs. On Toyota Prius in order to replace spark plugs these are Items need to be removed NO SHORTCUT , 1-wiper blades, and arms, 2-wiper motor and linkages, 3-Outer cowl top panel sub-assembly. 4-engine / cylinder head cover, 5-all four ignition coils. There is a video on you tube that shows step by step how to do the job, You can see that it is a time consuming process. That is why we provided him a loaner car free of charge. The question is why would the dealer only charge $61.77. I don't have an answer for that, I was surprised myself. Called the same Toyota dealership talked to ******, one of the service advisers, asked him how much they charge labor to replace spark plugs on 2010 Toyota Prius , He quoted me $247.00. I understood why they charge $247.00 but I don't see how they could do all that work plus re-gapping, and diagnose for only $61.77. Look, I realize everybody loves saving money and nobody likes to be over charged, but this is a matter of logic. For example if average cost of a steak in a steak house is $22.14 and someone claims that there is an other steak house that sales steak for only $6.17, We should not accused the one with $22.14 for dishonesty and bad mouth it, as matter fact maybe we should be wondering about the steak that is selling for $6.17.
My past Experiences with Mr. ***, Reasoning with him would be effortless and a waste of time and I believe he would find another way to complain. For that reason, we had to end this business relationship, and out of fairness we are willing to refund him $285.00 And we are willing to Give Mr. **** all $783.26 when Mr. *** takes his two reviews on yelp and or any other social medias about our business and agree in future he will not give any opinion nor reviews about our business. Basically we want have nothing to do with Mr.***
I believe the majority of people are positive and good people, as a matter of fact I am very optimistic and believe that most individuals are good , trustworthy, and positive.
THE OUT SIDE MIRRORS THE INSIDE, Other words our external action follows our internal action.
Mr. *** wrote over 70 NEGATIVE reviews on just yelp alone, Bad mouthing, condemning , blaming and bashing all kind of businesses , not understanding this kind of action harms himself more than those small businesses working hard to make ends meet.
We tell our children when they talk bad that IF YOU CAN'T SAY SOMETHING NICE DONT SAY ANYTHING , Maybe Someone should give the same advise to Mr. ***. I want to go further and ask him to start having prosperity and receive blessing from Our Lord, DELETE ALL NEGATIVITY from his heart.
I have a doubt these few words would have any effect on Mr. ***'s way of thinking and I wouldn't be surprised seeing another negative response.

Here are the simple facts; they never proved to me the spark plugs were correct, all ******* did was show me the order number for the plugs they installed and the reason that even came up was the fact that the car was super sluggish, sounded weird when traveling at freeway speeds and the gas mileage dropped by a lot. So here's my dilemma I had a huge drop in mileage and the car was very sluggish when the accelerator was pressed, so on *******'s suggestion I went to the dealership to get a second opinion on his work.
The Toyota dealer found that the plugs were not incorrectly installed; two of them were not even securely fastened as the gaskets were still fully extended and new, all four of them were completely over-gapped way beyond manufacturer's specifications. This was a rudimentary job and they not only did it incorrectly, they endangered my equipment, I cannot quantify how much damage my engine has gone through because of this.
When I showed *******; Toyota's findings, he said that it was all BS and he's not going to do anything for me aside from giving me the $61.77 I spent to get a second opinion. He pretty much disregarded the findings and sent me on my way.
The only reason I asked them to show me the brakes was because for about a month and a half after getting service at his shop, my brakes were mushy and the brake pedal would go all the way to the floor, so I asked that he show me the brakes.
Let's be honest here, if you as a customer go to have your brakes replaced and the pedal is mushy and goes all the way to the ground after having them changed, you might also suspect that they weren't changed at all or done incompetently, It turns out they were, but obviously something wasn't right and after this spark plug ordeal, I can truly say they do dangerous and incompetent work at that shop.
As for the $783+ I spent on having his shop tune up my car, I can only imagine how much danger my life is in due to the extreme incompetence produced at that shop, after seeing how they botched a simple job like changing out the spark plugs and doing it in a dangerous and unsafe fashion, I highly suggest that people shop elsewhere for car service.
As for the negative review posted, it's all factual, as for my other reviews that have nothing to do with his shop; I don't see what bearing they have on his shop doing dangerous and improper work.
seeing how ******* brought up children and lessons in this, I hope he imparts something called ethics into his as *******'s dealing of this situation left much to be desired, I brought him proof there was something wrong with his shop's work and he just dismissed me and refused to make it right and sent me on my way even after he was proven to be in the wrong. How will others trust him with their hard earned money and very life when they now know his shop is full of dangerous amateurs and a ring leader that won't set things right when he's clearly in the wrong!
